Features
- Vineyard notes: Half of the fruit for this wine comes from the half-acre block of vines by the house and the hill above. Both of these are south facing and well established with rows running north south. There is a small percentage of fruit from the new plantings, which are north facing and on a later ripening rootstock. This adds a more tightly structured palate and subtle fruit. The clones of Pinot Noir used in this wine are Swan, 828, 777, La Tache, 115 and Calera .
- Winemaking: We picked the Pinot Noir on September 9th. The fruit was destemmed into tank where it underwent native fermentation beginning at 24.6 Brix. The wine was aged in once-used French oak barrels and a 500 liter puncheon. For the first half year the wine was stirred bimonthly. The wine had a slow and steady secondary fermentation.
